It is with deep sadness that we learnt of the death of fellow Kiwanian, Distinguished President David Rawlins. David passed away on Monday, February 12, 2018 at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
David joined the Kiwanis Club of Barbados South in 2001 and served the club in many capacities throughout his life of service: committee chair, director, SLP advisor, president 2010-2011.
He had a big heart for the Service Leadership Program and Young Children Priority One. He was the driving force behind the club's weekly Antenatal Lecture Series at three polyclinics which provides information on the benefits of proper nutrition and the ill effects of substance abuse on pregnant mothers and their unborn babies.
David was also instrumental in developing and conducting the Easter Nutritional Camp for primary school students at the Hilda Skeene Primary School over the past three years.
These two projects were recognised by Kiwanis International.
In recognition of the outstanding community work David Rawlins was nominated by the Kiwanis Club of Barbados South for, and awarded, the Barbados Jubilee Honour for his outstanding contribution to the development of Barbados since Independence in the area of Civil Society.
The President, Board of Directors and members of the Kiwanis Club of Barbados South wish to express our sincere condolences to his wife, Past President Lolene, his son Kiwanian Dwight, daughter Julia and all other family and friends and assure them of our continued prayers and support at this time of bereavement.
May he rest in peace.
